The Old Rectory

A lovely spot in the Suffolk countryside, standing in its own gardens and next to the church.

This is very much a country house, with informal 'honesty' bar to help yourself to before dinner, magazines scattered in the drawing room and walls covered in interesting artwork. Dinner is served, Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the intimate dining room in winter or in the conservatory overlooking the spectacular gardens in summer.

Locally sourced and mostly organic ingredients, much from the garden, are combined to create a delicious set 3-course menu. Breakfast sausages are a particular treat. There are open fires in the winter, polished wood floors, big soft beds, sumptuous fabrics and beautifully upholstered sofas in contemporary colours.

All bedrooms are different: one has a sleigh bed, another is in a converted coach house, one has its own private staircase and one is a garden cottage within the grounds. All very rural and peaceful yet convenient for Snape Maltings, Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo. The seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are nearby. Don't forget to take home a pot of their home made quince jam!

3-course dinner available Mon, Wed & Fri £28.00

Hotel reviews

(1 night stay): A lovely location, very warm welcome and a nice room (we stayed in the Garden Cottage). The breakfast was great with very atttentive service, good choice and lots of local produce, cooked well.

09/10/2009 (2 night stay): The Old Rectory is a superbly beautiful hidden hotel, with lots of quintessentially English touches, genuine hosts, fabulous decor, wonderful locally sourced produce with sound provenance served at breakfast.

07/09/2009 (2 night stay): Like a private house, dogs lolling in the drawing room, 'honesty' bar, super garden next door to the church.... House party atmosphere with dinner (on request) guests encouraged to join up, which was fine with us as the other couple were very nice! Comfy room, small TV, good breakfast. home made jam to take away.
