milsoms
Milsoms is a Victorian house bought by the Milsom family in 2001 and opened as a Brasserie with bedrooms.
Décor is stylish, slightly rustic using lots of natural wood, stone, leather, steel and natural carpets. Colours are Farrow & Ball creams, taupes and beiges. The entrance hall has a black stone floor which leads into a reception room furnished with leather sofas.
The attractive restaurant has the feel of a bistro with wooden floors, large bar with stone mirrors, leather chairs, rustic wooden tables split into two areas with a visible open kitchen. Outside a large terrace overlooks the gardens at the back of the house. Diners write their own orders, then take them to the bar.
There are sensibly two sizes of helpings. Tables are not bookable but the restaurant is open from 1200 until 2130. Various private rooms can be hired for parties. Bedrooms are comfortable with lovely beige stone bathrooms en suite, all individually decorated in pale colours with large upholstered headboards, f lat screen TVs and minibars.

Hotel reviews
June 2011 : I have stayed a couple of times now, the first time alone and the second time with my wife. Nice room both times and excellent walks along the river and through the town. First time ate in the brasserie – ok but you have to go up to the bar with your order slip – they don’t come to you. Second time we were offered dinner at le Talbooth, a short walk up the road. Very attentive service and good food. Place to go for a special occasion.

June 2011 : Stayed at the hotel a few times and have always found the staff welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Duvets are very, very cosy. Every time I have stayed, I have eaten in the restaurant and found the food to be of quality and good value for money.

April 2011 : I have stayed at milsoms many a time and always take my top customers there. The service is always top notch and the staff always go that extra mile to make sure everything is spot on. Would hugely recommend milsoms for business or pleasure, evenings or lunchtime.
