Maison Talbooth
A Victorian house which has been owned by the Milsom family for over 40 years and is now one of the leading hotels of East Anglia. It is situated on the Essex/Suffolk border, ½ mile from the picturesque village of Dedham and overlooking the beautiful Dedham Vale, famous Constable country.
There are 12 comfortable bedrooms divided into four categories: principal suites with hot tubs on private terraces, deluxe suites, superior suites and standard suites. All have marble bathrooms, bedrooms with flat screen TVs, minibars, goose feather duvets, Egyptian cotton sheets, huge upholstered headboards and large mirrors.
The top floor has recently been converted into a Spa with two double treatment rooms. Another recent addition is the Garden Room. An amazing stylish new pool house has just been opened in the grounds. It has an honesty bar, smart changing rooms and showers. The outdoor pool is kept at a constant 80 degrees all year round, with a large decked area and hot tub. Guests can enjoy a cocktail or snack lunch by the pool, relax by a log fire or enjoy an evening barbecue. An all weather tennis court is nearby.
Serious eating happens at The Talbooth, the AA rosette restaurant one mile down the road and served by a shuttle car service. Opened in 1962 by Gerald Milsom, the 16th century timber framed building was formerly a toll booth for collecting money from boats on the river Stour. Two dining rooms overlook the river and private rooms are available for hire. Outside one can sit under an Architectural Sail or wander in the large garden. Beyond a marquee makes an idyllic setting for weddings and functions.
Pets are welcome at the hotel's discretion.

November 2011 : I recently stayed in this gorgeous hotel. I was treating my partner for our anniversary and when we got there, the manager upgraded us. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The room was spotless and the breakfast was amazing. Will definitely be staying here again.

July 2011 : Dulce et decorum in Dedham. Attentive helpful staff who were most welcoming, appearing genuine and spontaneous in client comfort and service. Nothing was too much trouble and courtesycar service a delightful and convenient surprise.
