The owners of the Riverside, the Thornton family (whose excellent chocolates tempt in each bedroom) have refurbished bedrooms and public areas to make this gem even more attractive. It nestles by the river Wye in a quiet cul-de-sac with the beauties of the Peak District National Park on all sides and several classic stately homes: Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall near at hand. The restaurant has AA  and an excellent local reputation for seasonally available game and fish from the neighbouring river. There is a separate meeting/dining room for that important private party and the Terrace Room buttery is open all day for light snacks if preferred. An excellent centre for touring the Peak District or for relaxing in 'home-from-home' comfort.
