Historic Grade II listed hotel dating from 1770 when it was originally part of the larger New Inn built during the height of the Georgian spa era. It was subsequently bought by wine merchant Job Hodgkinson in the 1830s. The large oval sign outside still bears the name and much of the ground floor interior remains intact from this time. Great care has been taken to restore the remainder of the building to its former Victorian splendour, whilst satisfying the needs of today's discerning traveller. Rooms are comfortably furnished, some with sleigh beds and most overlook the front, have and en suite showers. At the back of the hotel is a cave and behind there rises a tranquil garden, ideal for relaxing in after a day's sightseeing on the Heights of Abraham or at one of the many stately homes in the area.
