The George has been welcoming travellers for over 500 years, first as an alehouse, and, since 1770, as an inn. It is ideally placed in the centre of the Peak District, near to Chatsworth and the Ladybower Reservoir, yet only 12 miles from Sheffield.
After a thorough refurbishment in 1997, bedrooms have great character, with all modern facilities. Some are split level and some have four-posters. Bathrooms have power showers and large fluffy bath towels. Public rooms have fresh flowers and the award-winning restaurant, under the supervision of master chef Ben Handley, has an ever changing menu, there is a boardroom for meetings or private dining and a Banquet Suite for functions and wedding receptions.
