Golf Hotels in Wales

Royal Porthcawl, ranked world 86th by Golf World, Royal St Davids Harlech and now Celtic Manor are perhaps the best known courses in Wales. Near Cardiff, Egerton Grey is 30 minutes form Royal Porthcawl, but has the public 9-hole Porthkerry Golf Course on its doorstep. Glamorganshire Golf Club at Penarth is also nearby. Miskin Manor is convenient for the 12-hole Llantrisant and Pontyclun Golf Course. Celtic Manor is the site of the Ryder Cup 28 Sept-2nd October 2010. Glen Yr Afon House in Usk is nearby and also has the scenic Monmouthshire Golf Club nearby at Abergavenny.

In Powys The Lake Country House has its own course with Builth Wells Golf Club nearby. Crickhowell and Brecon both have 9-hole courses. In Pembrokeshire Haverfordwest golf course is near both Slebech Park and Wolfscastle Country Hotel, whereas 9-hole South Pembrokeshire Golf Club is near Lamphey Court. Penally Abbey has the 18-hole championship Tenby course nearby.

In Gwynedd the Harlech course is convenient for Portmeirion but Criccieth and Porthmadog’s own golf courses have challenging seaside links with great views. Opposite Trefeddian Hotel is the favoured championship links Aberdovey course. Llandundo in Conwy has two celebrated courses, whereas the 9-hole Betwys-y-Coed course runs alongside the river Conwy.

Anglesey has four private courses, all adjacent to the coast, at Rhosneigr, Bull Bay, Baron Hill and a 9-hole public course at Llangefni, near Tre-Ysgawen Hall.

Denbighshire has the 18-hole parkland Denbigh Golf Club with excellent views and the Peter Alliss designed 9-hole Bryn Morfydd Hotel golf course. Llangollen, near The West Arms, has the 18-hole Vale of Llangollen course, one mile east of the town on the A5.
