ABOUT THE CROWN

The Crown re-opened in 2003 after extensive refurbishment and has rapidly attracted a dining clientele from miles around. The AA AA RosetteAA Rosette restaurant sources, where possible, local produce for a regularly evolving menu and fishboard.  September 2008 saw the opening of a new block of 11 stylish rooms quietly located to the rear of the property.  Each room is individually decorated and comfortably furnished, with handcrafted beds and Henderson Russell furniture.  Three rooms have Super-kingsize beds, three have French windows opening onto their own terraces, and one ground floor room is suitable for guests of limited mobility.  All have walk-in Matki showers, Egyptian cotton towels and the latest gadgets – DVD players, Digital TV, safe, minibar, WIFI internet access and ‘phones with messaging facilities. Stoke by Nayland is a picturesque village built on a hill on the Suffolk / Essex border.

07/08/2009 (3 night stay): Enjoyed our stay at the Crown very much. Our room was lovely, light and sunny and the attention to detail superb. Very comfortable and clean. Our meals were very good and the service excellent. It was great to find a hotel with such a lot to recommend it. The hotel has lovely grounds and the view from our window was lovely. Very quiet and relaxing.

23/10/2009 (2 night stay): A most delightful place to stay - the room was nicely furnished, the hotel staff friendly and helpful and the food quite delicious. There were some nice, thoughful touches - a free bottle of mineral water in the room, a proper teapot and nice cups and our used cups were even washed and returned to their place while we had dinner!

14/08/2009 (2 night stay): The Crown is now one of my favourite places to stay. The standard of accommodation was extremely high and the food in the restaurant was fantastic and very good value. There is an exceptional wine list, with lots of available by the glass and the bar staff are very knowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back.
